How can we start to wean people off of the free, sweet government milk after all these years?

if you can figure how to do it i wish you were running for president. i have read that when the people find out that they can get what they need from the government for free that is the beginning of the end of democracy. the people will always vote for the candidate who will promise the most free services. it takes intelligent people with integrity to keep democracy alive. when i hear Obama speak i see the lines forming for the handouts. i think of reading what Kennedy said "ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country?" where are those Americans now?
