Why is it always claimed that people oppose AGW dogma for personal financial benefit?

Profitable companies don't want to change their business model at all, any more than a successful athlete wants to change his style. Big profitable companies have the financial clout to budget money for lobbyists and think-tanks to convince governments to change THEIR models to conform more closely to what the companies want. This problem won't go away no matter what business the companies are in.
